Water Street Village represents the first comprehensive residential redevelopment plan by a private developer in the City of Waterloo. The site consists of approximately one and one-half square blocks and is adjacent to the site of the proposed Water Street Flats and Rowhouses. Click here to see some of our Single Family Homes plans. The project, when fully developed, will result in the construction of eleven new single family homes and a mixed use (retail and condominium) building of at least 3,000 square feet. Additionally, the redevelopment includes the restoration/renovation of five existing homes. The complete project represents an investment of over $1.6 million. This development began with the construction of the first new single family home constructed in Waterloo’s Cedar River Neighborhood in over eighty years. This home was sold and a second, located at 217 East 8th Street, is under construction. The core principle of the project is to leverage the existing urban form and construct new homes and buildings that integrate and complement the historic architecture of the neighborhood. The design also focuses on promoting a pedestrian friendly, walkable environment by building homes that are typically multi-story, have limited front setbacks, functional front porches and generally encourage a sense of community. |
